The Korean Introductory Course is designed for complete beginners who want to build a firm foundation before starting Beginner 1A. Over eight weeks, learners will master the Korean alphabet, Hangeul, and learn how its consonants and vowels combine to form syllables and words. Alongside reading and writing, the course introduces accurate pronunciation and a set of essential everyday expressions, so learners can greet people, introduce themselves and handle simple exchanges in Korean from the very first weeks. Each lesson combines guided practice, pronunciation drills and short communicative activities, with an introduction to aspects of Korean culture throughout.
A Sejong Institute Certificate of Completion will be provided if learners attend above 70% of classes.

Hangeul: basic vowels and consonants and how syllables are built
Double vowels, tense and aspirated consonants
Final consonants (batchim) and key pronunciation rules
Reading and writing Korean words and short sentences
Greetings, thanking and apologising
Introducing yourself (name, nationality, occupation)
Basic classroom expressions and simple questions
Everyday Korean culture and etiquette.

Week 1: Introduction to Hangeul; basic vowels
Week 2: Basic consonants; forming syllables
Week 3: Aspirated consonants
Week 4: Tense consonants
Week 5: Double vowels (Diphthongs)
Week 6: Final consonants (Batchim)
Week 7: Double final consonants; linking sounds
Week 8: Review, Greetings, Self-introduction, and classroom expressions.
